Opposing few features of the election programme newly declared by the MU, the protesters also shouted slogans against the V-C demanding his resignation.

“This is inconvenient for voters. Additionally, there is no photo and Aadhaar card mandate for the new process of voters’ registration which puts questions on verified voters,” states the memorandum submitted by the MNVS.

It also demands that the university continues the verified voters’ registration from the earlier process, instead of canceling them.
The MU Senate elections for the graduate constituency has been pending for close to a year and was mired in controversy.

In August, allegations were raised by BJP MLA Ashish Shelar about bogus registration of voters. The MU on August 17 stayed the Senate elections following instructions by the state government.

On October 30, MU declared the senate election programme as per which the new process of voters’ registration began on October 30 and the actual election will be held on April 21.

The MNVS has also alleged irregularities in the new process of voters’ registration.

“At the beginning of the newly started registration process, documents uploaded by interested voters were available with their log-in. But suddenly after November 3, these documents have vanished and the entire process has to be repeated,” stated the memorandum of demands submitted by the MNVS.
