Man booked for ‘raping and defaming’ friend using video, printouts of chats

A 41-year-old man was booked for allegedly raping his 22-year-old friend by blackmailing her and trying to defame her by distributing printouts of their private chats among her neighbours.
According to personnel of Sakinaka police station, the accused, Gurvaiya Busirasi, and the complainant who is a resident of Airoli, Navi Mumbai, know each other since 2019.
In February 2019, the accused allegedly took her to a lodge and forced himself on her and captured the video of the act. Later, by threatening to make the video viral, he allegedly raped her multiple times, states the police complaint.
The accused person had been blackmailing the woman for physical favours, and when she refused his demands, he allegedly dropped a packet with memory card of the video and printouts of their WhatsApp chats at the doorsteps of all her neighbours, the FIR states.
Under mental pressure, the woman did not report the matter to police immediately. But when the accused kept on harassing her, she finally approached the police on Sunday and filed a complaint.
Police have booked the accused under sections 376, 376(2)(n), 384, 506, and 509 of the Indian Penal Code. Sakinaka police are investigating the case as the incident took place in their jurisdiction.
