Man held for killing parents

With the police trying to locate his whereabouts since the murder of his elderly parents in their apartment in MIDC on July 16,Moiz Bharmal (57) was finally arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch from Marol in Andheri (East) on Wednesday. Following his arrest,the police confirmed that Moiz had allegedly murdered his parents following an argument.

According to the police,Moiz used to argue with his parents Nuruddin (88) and Zubeida (83) over selling their flat at Manisha Apartments on Church Road in MIDC and buy a cheaper flat in Pune so they could live off the spare amount.

Moiz has been arrested from Marol by Unit 10 of the Crime Branch and will be handed over to the police. Preliminary investigations have revealed he was unemployed and was in the habit of drinking and smoking over which he had regular fights with his parents. Moiz wanted them to sell their flat for around Rs 70 lakh and buy a flat for Rs 30 lakh in Pune. He told them to put the remaining money in their bank account and spend it on their daily expenses, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshu Roy.

Roy said Moiz had a heated argument with his parents on the morning of July 16. At about 11 am,he allegedly killed his father by strangling him in a bedroom while his mother Zubeida was offering namaaz outside. At about 2 pm,when Zubeida finished her prayers,Moiz strangled her to death too.
