Man found murdered,son on run

A small-time actor and chief executive officer of a creative firm is allegedly on the run after his father’s body was found naked in the bathroom of his flat in a posh Oshiwara apartment building on Saturday night.

A small-time actor and chief executive officer of a creative firm is allegedly on the run after his father’s body was found naked in the bathroom of his flat in a posh Oshiwara apartment building on Saturday night. The body of 62-year-old Arun Tiku bore stab wounds in the stomach.

The Oshiwara police said they have registered a case of murder against two unknown persons, believed to be paying guests in the flat, who are absconding since the murder. Investigators also said they are trying to trace the victim’s son Anuj (30).

Police officers said Arun, who stayed in New Delhi, had come to Mumbai a few days ago to visit Anuj,an actor and CEO of Mind Bubble. Anuj,a bachelor, had reportedly been living in three attached flats on the first floor of Samarth Aangan building in Lokhandwala,Andheri (West),for the past few years.

The incident came to light after a neighbour informed the police control room about heated arguments in flat numbers 101,102 and 103 around 11 pm on Saturday.

“Officers rushed to the spot and found the doors of the flats locked. They broke open the door and found Arun’s body in the bathroom,” said Dilip Rupwate, senior police inspector from Oshiwara police station.

“We have also recovered the knife from the spot. The night watchmen said Anuj and his friends were in the house and appeared to have escaped from the window before police arrived at the spot,” he said.

“As of now,we have registered a case against unknown persons and are tracing Anuj and his friends. It is not clear who killed Arun. The body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem examination,” said Rupwate.

Police sources said initial investigations had revealed that Anuj may have wanted to give his house to paying guests,a move his father had been opposing. “The fight might have started due to this reason. We have found Anuj’s mobile phone,” said an officer.

“Anuj is the prime accused,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli, spokesperson of the Mumbai Police.
