Malad kidnap victim rescued,teens held

The police have rescued the three-year-old girl who was kidnapped in Malwani on Wednesday and arrested two teenagers for the crime.

The police have rescued the three-year-old girl who was kidnapped in Malwani on Wednesday and arrested two teenagers for the crime.

According to the police,the prime accused had molested the victim six months ago but no complaint was filed as his father was the landlord of the victim’s family.

The child was kidnapped when she went out to buy sweets around 3:30 pm. “The girl failed to return after some time when the mother set out in search of her. She could not find her,” said DCP (Zone 11) Sanjay Bannerjee.

The victim lived in the Gate 7 area of Malwani. Her father works as a chauffeur in Saudi Arabia and mother Nasreen Shaikh is employed as a zari artiste.

“Around 4.15 pm,the mother received a call on her landline,with the caller demanding a sum of Rs 2 lakh to release the girl,” the DCP said. “The caller said he would call again in two days and asked her to keep the money ready.”

The mother approached the Malwani police and registered a complaint. “We found that the call had been made from a phone booth in the area and on questioning the person who manages the shop got to know about some teens had been hanging out in a suspicious manner near the shop around the time when the call was made. We traced the teens and detained them for questioning on Thursday,” said Bannerjee.

During interrogation,the prime accused confessed to have kidnapped the girl for ransom.
