Maharashtra Local Body Elections 2025: Voting timings, polling process, candidate schedule and result dates

Following this, subsequent phases will cover other types of local bodies: zilla parishads, panchayat samitis, and municipal corporations.

The SEC has indicated that all local body polls must be completed by 31 January 2026, as directed by the Supreme Court of India.

Voting Timings: 

Voting will be held as per Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC) guidelines.

• Poll Timings: Morning to evening (exact hours yet to be announced by SEC).
• Voting Method: Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) only.
• Voters in Phase 1: Around 1.07 crore registered voters.
• Model Code of Conduct: Enforced immediately after election announcement.
• Deployment: Thousands of polling staff and security teams deployed for smooth and fair voting.

Seats and Election Management: 

The SEC has completed all nomination and verification formalities.

Important details:

• Nominations Filed: Between November 10 to 17 
• Scrutiny: November 18
• Withdrawal/Appeals: Up to November 20; appeals heard till November 25
• Total Seats:
  • 6,859 member seats
  • 288 chairperson posts
• The SEC oversees ward delimitation, prepares the complete election schedule, and uses ECI voter lists for accuracy.
