A Lamborghini car caught fire on Wednesday, news agency PTI quoted officials as saying.

Gautam Singhania, the chairman and managing director of Raymond and a self-described car enthusiast, shared a video of the burning supercar at Breach Candy on the Mumbai Coastal Road.

While a person can be seen trying to douse the fire in the video, a fire engine was also pressed into action and the fire could be extinguished in about 45 minutes.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known and no casualties have been reported. Still, the incident has sparked questions about the safety apparatus available in such a high-end car.

‘Concerns about safety’

“Incidents like this raise serious concerns about the reliability and safety standards of Lamborghini. For the price and reputation, one expects uncompromising quality — not potential hazards,” Singhania wrote on X.

Singhania is the founder of Super Car Club of India.

Earlier, he had questioned the Italian automaker for not responding to complaints regarding his car. His Lamborghini Revuelto refused to budge during a test drive due to a “complete electrical failure” at Mumbai’s Trans Harbour Link.
