THE INDIAN Air Force’s (IAF) Sarang Helicopter Display Team is set to add splendour to the skies with its precision aerial acrobatics in Ankleshwar in Gujarat on December 6 and 7, flying their indigenously built Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) Dhruv.
In a statement issued on Friday, the IAF said that the Sarang team, based out of Sulur Air Force Station in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, has arrived in Gujarat with its five modified helicopters to perform the high-skill aerobatic manoeuvres and captivate the crowd with their signature formations of the ‘Wine Glass’, ‘Diamond’ and India – a tribute to the spirit of the nation as well as the “heart maneuver.”
The ‘Sarang Split’ would see the helicopters soar together before dramatically peeling away in opposite directions with immaculate precision, the statement said.
The IAF team leader, Wing Commander Abhijit Kumar, Senior Engineer Wing Commander Piyush Mukherjee and team commentator and administrator Flight Lieutenant Pallavi Sangwan said on Friday that the display would mark the first-ever performance of the Sarang team in south Gujarat.
Promising a “spectacular display” of around 22 minutes for the people of Ankleshwar and nearby areas, the helicopter display team aims at “attracting youths to join the armed forces and showcase the prowess of the IAF.”
