With few avenues of recreation for children during monsoons, the Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) has organised a five-day monsoon film festival, where films will be screened free of cost. Inaugurated by the Society’s chairperson,Nandita Das,the festival is being held at their Pedder Road premises,in the Children’s Society Preview Auditorium. “After receiving tremendous response to ‘summer bonanza’ package for children,we thought we would do this for children during monsoon. As rains prevent children from playing outdoors, watching films would be a relief and fun for them,” she said.

There are two screenings every day — 10 am-12 pm and 1 pm-3 pm. The festival, which is on till July 15,kicked off with Munjal Shroff’s Krish,Trish and Batlibuoy Part I. Of the 10 award-winning films being screened, most are by Indian filmmakers. Kranti Kanade’s popular Mahek Mirza,Sankalp Meshram’s National Award-winning film Chutkan Ki Mahabharat and Thomas Borch Neilson’s Sunshine Barry and the Disco Worms are

part of the screening schedule. EFS
