The next time you visit Royal China,do not be surprised if the waiter hands you an iPad when you ask for the menu. Its no mistake the restaurant has made its menu available on the popular gadget. This is the second such initiative in the city,as Koh by Ian Kittichai at InterContinental Marine Drive had introduced iPad menus in November last year. Available at both Royal Chinas Fort as well as Bandra outlets, the iPad has been reprogrammed as a digital menu. The Home screen has icons that represent the various categoriesNon-Vegetarian,Vegetarian,Beverages and Desserts. The touchscreen allows you to navigate menu, complete with price and pictures of each item.
The idea, says Minoo Bulsara, the chief operation manager of Royal China, came from Neville Vazifdar, the proprietor of the restaurant. It is an attempt to introduce freshness and interest among guests. Kids are particularly fascinated by it, he says. Currently, each of the two outlets has up to 15 iPads but given the positive feedback, more will be brought in. We dont yet have the option where guests can directly place an order with the kitchen through the iPad. Thatll have to wait till weve tested the waters. Bulsara added.
