Visitors India Cements broke a lot of hearts at the DY Patil Stadium as they overcame a resilient host outfit to lift the Dr DY Patil All-India T20 Cricket Tournament in Nerul. And they did it in clinical fashion.

To start with their bowlers never let the DY Patil ‘A’ batsmen get away, held them to 155/8 in their 20 overs before the seasoned duo of Dinesh Karthik and Hemang Badani sealed the game, remaining unbeaten on 46 and 42 respectively. The decision to bat first after winning the toss finally backfired for the hosts as their batsmen failed to come to terms with some accurate bowling from the likes of S Suresh,Suresh Kumar and Palani Amarnath.

The reply by Indian Cements didn’t get off to an impressive beginning either as they lost opener B Arun Karthik for just seven seemed in more than a spot of bother with the score reading 70/4. There was no looking back, however, for the outstation outfit as Karthik and Badani stole the show, putting on an unbeaten partnership of 88 for the fifth wicket to see their team through with two overs to spare.

Brief scores: Dr D Y Patil Group A 155 for 8 in 20 overs (Shrideep Mangela 48; S Suresh 3/25) lost to India Cements 158 for 4 in 18 overs (Dinesh Karthik 46 n.o.,Hemang Badani 42 n.o.).
