Day later,10 protesters refuse to leave Indu Mills
A day after supporters of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar stormed the India United Mills No 5,10 persons refused to leave the premises on Wednesday. The police have registered an FIR against the protesters for trespassing and refusing to leave. Additional Commissioner of Police (Central Region) Vineet Agarwal said no arrests have been made in the case yet. As of now,there are no arrests or detentions in the case. We are monitoring the situation, said Agarwal. On Tuesday,nearly five lakh people had congregated at Chaityabhoomi in Shivaji Park to commemorate the 55th death anniversary of Dr Ambedkar. While the supporters gathered at the ground,around 500 followers of the Dalit leader stormed the mill premises.
Woman held for abducting neighbours infant
A 24-year-old woman was arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch this week for allegedly kidnapping a two-month-old infant of her neighbour. A Crime Branch officer said the childs mother was unwell and left the baby at Rajina Dawoods house while going to a hospital on October 25. The mother left her infant at Dawoods house. When she returned,she found Dawoods door locked from outside, said the officer. She waited for Dawood to return and approached the police four days after the incident. Finally,we arrested her this week from Thane and rescued the child, added the officer.
Minor fire in Lokhandwala restaurant
A minor fire broke out in a restaurant behind Infiniti Mall in Lokhandwala,Andheri,on Wednesday evening. The blaze started in the kitchen of the restaurant. The fire was doused in an hour and no casualties were reported. Four fire engines and three tankers were rushed to the spot. Fire officials said that it was a minor grade-I fire.
