Diamond theft: 4 challenge imprisonment

Four foreign nationals,who were awarded a 21-month jail sentence after they opted for plea bargaining, in a case of diamond theft worth Rs 6.73 crore last year,moved the Bombay High Court on Friday challenging their imprisonment. The accused had owned up to the offence before a Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. The convicts have stated that the magistrate could have used his discretion in awarding a lighter sentence.

Cheating case against former AI official

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against Anil Kumar Sharma,former general manager of Air India,and employees of Eros International Media for allegedly cheating the national carrier to the tune of Rs 1 crore.

Sharma and Eros International Media employees are accused of fraudulently charging Air India for short video programmes.
