Hotels and restaurants in Maharashtra have decided to offer 10-20 per cent discount to customers who cast their votes in the ongoing general elections.

The initiative is part of the “Pledge To Vote” campaign by the Hotel and Restaurant Association (Western India) – HRAWI, in an aim to promote voter awareness and boost participation in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

“Voting is a fundamental right and a powerful way for every citizen to contribute to the democratic process,” said Pradeep Shetty, president of HRAWI. Through the “Pledge To Vote” campaign, HRAWI aims to instill a sense of responsibility and pride in exercising this right, he said.

The association has also advised its members to actively engage their customers in boosting the voter turnout by offering discounts on bills to those who display the indelible ink on their finger, Shetty said.

The association will also use social media platforms to post alerts, updates and reminders, urging people to vote, he said.
