The Mumbai Crime Branch claims to have found evidence negating retired policeman and murder accused Emmanuel Amolik statement that he ordered the hit on Navi Mumbai builder S K Lohariya.
Amolik had claimed that around two months ago,Lohariya almost ran him over at a parking lot in Navi Mumbai. In the ensuing argument,Lohariya pulled a gun on Amolik and threatened him. Amolik said this hurt his ego and he ordered Lohariyas killing.
We have checked call detail records (CDRs) of Lohariya and Amolik, and cellular locations confirm that the two were nowhere near each other on the day, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Himanshu Roy.
This has strengthened the crime branch suspicion that Amolik is only a fall guy for a larger syndicate responsible for Lohariyas murder. It also brings to fore the concern that crime branch officers had; that Amolik was trying to manipulate them into making a blunder, said an officer. Once we filed the chargesheet with Amoliks claim,he could produce his CDRs,which show that he was not even close to Lohariya on the day, thus weakening our case, said an officer.
Cops will now seek court permission to subject Amolik to psychological analysis, which includes lie detector test and narco analysis.
