With Western Railway (WR) not providing duty passes to GRP personnel,it is becoming difficult for constables and their supervisors to prove they were on duty, officials complain. The railway administration provides annual duty passes to GRP,which allows them to travel on local trains and be deployed at platforms.
S G Nekalikar,ACP administration, crime and welfare,GRP,said,WR has not issued any duty pass to GRP staff. Central Railway, however, has done so.
Around 1,200 duty passes have been provided by CR,said another GRP official.

Asked about the lack of duty pass with constables on duty at Lower Parel station on July 27,Rajendra Trivedi, senior inspector,Mumbai Central GRP,said,we have the statement of the victim to present our case before court and establish where the arrest was made by our personnel on duty. We have also asked RPF to provide us with CCTV footage.
Sharat Chandrayan, chief public relations officer,WR,said,We have provided duty passes and will do so in future, too. There have been issues regarding jurisdiction of duty passes across the zone. He,however, did not provide the number of passes issued.
