Going to Goa?

It’s old news that Israel-based psychedelic trance DJ Skazi and UK-based psybient project Shpongle are headed to Goa,India’s hippie destination,this week.

It’s old news that Israel-based psychedelic trance DJ Skazi and UK-based psybient project Shpongle are headed to Goa,India’s hippie destination,this week. But what sets this performance apart is that this time they will be playing at India’s first college festival called Indiafest,being held at the hip Cavelossim beach on February 4 and 5. This Channel [V initiative is expected to have around 4,000 participants and visitors from colleges across in India.

Apart from the regular rock music,dance and theatre competitions,the festival will have unusual events like ‘Blitzkreig,’ a treasure hunt,a Bollywood quiz called ‘Kahaani poori filmy hai’,and a dating game titled ‘When Harry Met Sally’.

Around 11,000 students participated in the 11 zonal rounds held in Mumbai,Delhi,Chennai and Bangalore among other states. Among the 1,021 chosen for the finale are city colleges like IIT Mumbai,Jai Hind College and St. Xaviers college. The winners can pick up prizes up to Rs 75 lakh. “The response has been overwhelming and we are going to make this an annual venture,” says Prem Kamath,Executive Vice-President and General Manager,Channel [V.

Los Angeles-based rock band The Rescues and Indian bands like Jalebee Cartel,Shaair’n Func and Mohit Chauhan will also be present at this beach festival.
