Making a statement in the Assembly on what exactly happened at the college, Fadnavis said, “Deccan Education Society president Shahu Chhatrapati Maharaj has constituted the fact-finding committee… Its members are Ram Nimbalkar and Vishnu More, whose report is awaited.”

Last week, a talk organised at the college by the ABVP on the topic ‘Truth of JNU’ was disrupted by a group of students who called themselves Ambedkarites. As the matter escalated, leading to heated exchanges, the college administration called the police. The talk was being delivered by Alok Singh, head of the ABVP wing at JNU.
College principal R G Pardeshi, in his initial complaint to police, had sought action against students for raising “anti-national” slogans. Later he retracted, saying the reference to “anti-national” was a typo and deleted. The corrected version said if anybody had raised any “anti-national” slogans, action should be taken.
