Electrical tests for monorail next week

The consortium working on the Chembur-Wadala monorail will,over the next week,conduct tests to check its electrical functions.

The consortium working on the Chembur-Wadala monorail will,over the next week,conduct tests to check its electrical functions. MMRDA has advised citizens to avoid being in the proximity of these tests. The authorities in charge of the tests Wednesday energised the conductor rails fitted on the guideway beams,on which the monorail runs,between GTB Nagar and Wadala stations. “These tests are a process towards securing safety certificate for the commissioning of the monorail. A few other tests for signalling,communication,rolling stock and fare collection are also being conducted simultaneously,” said Dilip Kawathkar,MMRDA spokesperson.

Panvel-Mantralaya bus service from July 29

MSRTC will start an ordinary (2×2) bus service from Panvel to Mantralaya on the Eastern Freeway from Monday,July 29. The route includes Kamothe,Konkan Bhuvan,Nerul and Vashi. The adult fare will be Rs 52 per head. Scheduled departure from Panvel will be 8 am,9.30 am,11.20 am and 12.50 pm and from from Mantralaya at 3.30 pm,5.30 pm,7 pm and 8.30 pm.

Awareness drive on hepatitis

National Liver Foundation (NIF) will organise an awareness programme on hepatitis on World Hepatitis Day this Sunday. As part of the campaign,the organisation will form a human chain at Marine Drive. Dr Samir Shah,founder trustee of NIF,said,“Since the symptoms of the disease surface after several years,treatment becomes difficult. Therefore,early detection is crucial.”
