Dine in Style

Adarsh Gill experiments with a line of luxurious linens and table mats.

When Chanda Chaudhary,a Mumbai-based design connoisseur, decided to organise a show focusing on kitchen art, design and accessories, she approached her old friend,Adarsh Gill. On her part, the designer, who has retailed at leading American stores such as Bergdorf Goodman,Saks Fifth Avenue and Henri Bendel, was only too happy to take on the challenge. This led to Gill’s first line of table mats and napkins. “We instantly got around to discussing ideas and the collection for A Not So Casual Kitchen

was ready,” says the designer. A three-day-long show being held at the lifestyle store Anemos in Lower Parel,A Not So Casual Kitchen is on till today.

The show has 12 other participants, including graphic designer duo Krupa Sheth and Kruti Berawala,The Art Furniture Company and SPJ Sadhana School. Gill reveals that hers is a limited edition collection of high-end linens. “Apart from bright colours, turquoise and royal blues, you will see monochromes too. Geometric prints teamed with lace are also something to look out for,” says the designer, who takes inspiration from day-to-day life.

While designing this range was different from creating clothes, the underlying commonality is the feel good factor. “I have always believed in creating pieces that make one feel a sense of joy while investing in them,” she says.
