Two units of the Central Railways electrical department were at loggerheads on Tuesday after local services were hit due to a technical snag between Kurla and Vidhyavihar stations. The snag held up service for two hours,with 16 trains cancelled and six trains terminated before destination.
According to sources,the pantograph of a local train was entangled with an overhead equipment (OHE) wire at 12.25 pm. The Traction Rolling Distribution unit (TRD),responsible for OHE,and the the Traction Rolling Stock (TRS),responsible for pantograph,refused to take responsibility for the snag. Suburban trains were running 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule.
Vidhyadhar Malegaonkar,Chief Public Relations Officer,Central Railway said,Down slow line services were diverted on fast line between Matunga and Vidyavihar. After emergency maintenance work,down slow line services were restored at 3 pm. The cause of the problem is under investigation.
