Cops stop Farah Khan’s birthday bash for playing loud music

Organisers fined for using a loudspeaker without permission and beyond the 10 pm deadline.

A party held to celebrate the birthday of Bollywood choreographer and film producer Farah Khan was stopped by the Mumbai Police Friday early morning after a complaint was received about loud music.

The police also fined the organisers for using a loudspeaker without their permission as well as for using it beyond the permissible deadline of 10 pm.

According to the Oshiwara police, they received a call from residents of the Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri around 12.30 am on Friday, who complained that loud music was being played on the terrace of the Oberoi Sky Heights building in the complex.

“The music was being played when our personnel reached the building. It was being played to celebrate the birthday of film producer Farah Khan. Our team made inquiries and found that some residents of the building had organised the party to celebrate Khan’s birthday, but had failed to obtain prior permission, which is mandatory by law.

The organisers were fined Rs 5000 under provisions of the Bombay Police Act for playing music on a loudspeaker without permission as well as for playing it beyond 10 pm,” said Senior Police Inspector Subhadh Vele, Oshiwara police station. Sources added that a lot of Bollywood celebrities were present at the venue when police stopped the party.
