Cops: Chain-snatcher targeted senior citizens

The police on Thursday said a 25-year-old chain-snatcher,who was arrested from V P Road recently,targeted senior citizens and their jewellery as they climbed the stairs to their homes.

The police said the accused,Vicky Waghela,stood around a temple in Khetwadi and followed senior citizens to their homes. He had allegedly targeted six women that way.

Police said Waghela,a scrap dealer,followed Pabuben Bhansali,65,from Madhavbagh Temple to her home in Khetwadi on October 17.

Waghela allegedly snatched her necklace,pushed her and fled. Bhansali raised an alarm and her son,Devendra (41) gave chase.

Devendra spotted three police constables,who chased and caught Waghela.
