The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee will conclude its mass contact campaign Sampark Abhiyan on Saturday in Pune after covering all 288 Assembly constituencies.

The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) will conclude its mass contact campaign Sampark Abhiyan on Saturday in Pune after covering all 288 Assembly constituencies.

The campaign was launched by MPCC chief Manikrao Thakre on June 24 in Narayan Rane’s homedistrict Sindhudurg, where the cabinet held a special meeting to announce a Rs 5,232-crore package for the Konkan region.

The campaign was headed by Thakre who visited constituencies and interacted with cadres and voters. The party formed booth committees, screened potential candidates and studied local problems. Simultaneously, the Congress had also formed regionwise committees, each headed by two ministers. The panels visited north Maharashtra,Marathwada,Vidarbha and western Maharashtra and interacted with the party cadres. Besides,at least five aspirants for Assembly tickets were shortlisted in each constituency.

The Congress is also assessing the situation through another committee headed by AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh. The party’s state general secretary Hussein Dalwai said decisions like approaching the Supreme Court to regularise slums up to 2,000,and doling out regional development packages would help the party win the Assembly elections.
