The Navi Mumbai crime branch late Tuesday night seized red sandalwood worth Rs 8.4 crore that was allegedly being smuggled to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). The driver and the cleaner of the truck,in which the sandalwood were being smuggled,have been arrested. An officer from crime branch said the duo had started from Pune Tuesday morning. The police are looking for the person who sent the the consignment.
FDA seizes gutkha worth Rs 12 lakh,five booked
In the second raid by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the last six days,gutkha worth Rs 12.49 lakh was seized from Bandra Tuesday. Suresh Annapure,FDA Joint Commissioner of Food said,We intercepted four tempos that were loaded with gutkha concealed in apparel. On investigation,we located the godown where the stock was kept. Five persons have been booked.
