ALMOST all the top players from the state,city,suburbs,Thane and New Mumbai are expected to participate in the Rs 2.75 lakhs prize-money MCF Silver Jubilee open badminton tournament under the auspices of Mumbai Suburban District Badminton Association,at its Sports Complex from May 24.

ALMOST all the top players from the state,city,suburbs,Thane and New Mumbai are expected to participate in the Rs 2.75 lakhs prize-money MCF Silver Jubilee open badminton tournament under the auspices of Mumbai Suburban District Badminton Association,at its Sports Complex from May 24. The events included are mens and womens singles and doubles,and boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles in the age groups of under-15. Thirteen teams for GSA Womens Football League

A total of 13 teams will be battle it out for supremacy during MDFA-organised Goan Sports Association Womens Football League (WFL),which is scheduled to commence at the Goan Sports Association (GSA) ground,Cross Maidan,from May 11 to June 2.

Fr. Agnel,Vashi,who won the title last year when the event for women was revived after a gap of almost three years,will be defending their title. Also in the fray will be last years runners-up Sea View SC,Bodyline FC,Companeroes SC and S.P. Academy to name a few.

The clubs have been divided into two pools (one pool consists of seven teams and the other six teams) and the top two teams from each pool will qualify for the semifinals,which are scheduled to be played on Saturday,June1. The final will be played on Sunday,June 2.

All India Junior Open tennis at Nerul from May 13

The Parsram J. Vazirani Memorial All India Junior Open Talent Series Tennis Tournament for boys and girls under-12 will be held from May 13 to 18 at the Vazirani National Sports Academy,Nerul,Navi Mumbai. The tournament is being held under the auspices of the AITA and Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association. The qualifying rounds will be held on May 11 and 12,while the main draw will commence on May 13.
