Man arrested for abetting wife’s suicide

The Bhandup police have arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly abetting his wife’s suicide. According to police officials,Ravindra Mahadik had regular fights with his wife Anuradha (30) and harassed her as he did not want another child after their daughter. “When he abused her again on Saturday,she could not take it any more and set herself on fire at their house in Bhandup (West),” said an officer. Anuradha was rushed to the Rajawadi hospital where she succumbed to injuries. Her father,Eknath Shellar (65) who resides at Goregaon,filed a complaint with the Bhandup police alleging that his daughter was harassed by her husband and was repeatedly beaten. “On the basis of her father’s complaint,we arrested Mahadik. He was produced in court and remanded in police custody until July 5,” said the officer.
