Cause and effects
The Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) exhibition opened on Monday evening with a smattering of glitterati and the arty crowd. Confirming once again our suspicion that artists do not donate their best works for a cause, the art strung up at the Cymroza Art Gallery, was not consistently good. While some works stood out,it was clear that others had compromised. Given that the collection consisted of over 100 works and the gallery looked a bit cluttered—the display was a chaos of colour.

However, everyone was happy to drum up funds for the CPAA and curator Piali Syam along with gallery owner Pheroza Godrej were seen welcoming their guests. Lilette Dubey seems to be getting into the art scene in a big way. After her reading at the Galerie Mirchandani + Steinrueke for the launch of Faking It,Dubey was seen again at an art do looking her best and chatting with Shaina NC and Nana Chudasama. YK and Rekha Sapru—Founder Chairman,CPAA and Honorary Joint Secretary,CPAA and Shubha Mudgal,Executive Director CPAA hobnobbed with artists Prafulla Dahanukar,Brinda Miller,Sameer Mondal,Ruxana Pathan,Vipita Kapadia and Ananya Banerjee. The former NGMA honorary director Sarayu Doshi has also been getting out quite a bit and caught up with Bakul Patel.

Showstopper Dubey says her support for cancer does not end with the CPAA NGO—which is of course doing a fabulous job-she will be opening another show on July 5 which is also a fundraiser for cancer patients.

Feeling blue
The launch of Mahesh Bhatt’s book,A Taste of Life, based on his memoirs with UG Krishnamurti, was a small but lively affair at the Crossword Bookstore in Juhu. Daughter Pooja Bhatt and actor-nephew Emraan Hashmi launched the book quickly, followed by a teary-eyed Mahesh who went on to read excerpts from the book. Among those who listened wide-eyed in the audience were Kirron and Anupam Kher, directors Kalpana Lajmi and Tanuja Chandra, daughters Shaheen and Aliya and wife Soni Razdan.

Showstopper Pooja looked a bit pudgy but very refreshing in her Rihanna inspired hairdo with electric-blue strands to match her clothes.
