Giving glamour
MUMBAI’S favourite charity sale,Araaish, came back to town with its very first jewellery exhibition on October 6 at Blue Sea,Worli. The do was hosted by Mana Shetty,Isha Mehra and Bindu Rana Kapoor of Yes Bank, and saw some seriously jaw-dropping pieces – from Alpana Gujral’s opulent Mughal-inspired jewellery to Queenie Dhody’s contemporary Pebble Collection, made of semi precious stones set in gold. Bringing out their LVs and Tods were lunching ladies Madhoo Shah,Seema Khan,Sheetal Mafatlal,Nandinii Sen,Arti Surendranath and Dolly Thakore. We spotted Raveena Tandon hanging out with former co-star Suniel Shetty. Dressed in a short black dress and wearing her signature ear hoops,Raveena sure caught the eye. Sheetal decided to channel the au courant ‘80s trend by wearing a denim dress and outsize sunglasses, while Sharmilla Khanna went ethnic with a neon pink and orange salwar kurta.
Showstopper Celina Wadia successfully trod the thin line between casual and formal with a pretty, feminine top worn with black pants. She kept it relaxed and elegant with few accessories and no-fuss hair.

Ton in a tome
SOME good things never change. The beauty of Gulzar’s lyrics remains undiminished – just like the whiteness and crispiness of his kurtas. With time, the delightful writings coming out of Gulzar’s pen increases in number and quality. Proof: 100 Lyrics,a bilingual volume containing the original lyrics by the lyricist in Devnagari script alongside lucid and evocative English translations by Sunjoy Shekhar, was released at Olive Bar & Kitchen,Bandra,on Tuesday. With friends and fans turning up in good numbers, the event doubled as belated celebration of the prolific writer’s 75th birthday. Penguin’s director of publishing,Uday Shekhar was present at the do where Bhupinder and Mitali Singh performed some of Gulzar’s iconic melodies.
Also there were Kirron Kher,Pritish Nandy,Anurag Basu and Ayesha Jhulka.
Showstopper The Oscar-winning lyricist with his humility and humour.
