There’s only so much of lehengas you can take in a stretch which was probably why fashion was more interesting off the ramp than on it at the parading of Vikram Phadnis’ wedding couture at the JW Marriott yesterday. Jacqueline Fernandes and Vidya Malvade came in similar one-shouldered maxis in different colours. Sonu Sood introduced a new category in Indian fashion: the wicket keeper look. If Sonu Nigam’s birthday’s coming up any time soon, somebody might consider buying him a shaving kit.

Showstopper Although in trademark Phadnis style, showstopper Malaika Arora Khan did look like a walking advertisement for a mobile jewellery store, she pulled it off with panache.

Laugh out loud
Ashvin Gidwani Productions’ play Get Rid Of My Wife was comedy theatre at its best. The fact that the St Andrews Auditorium in Bandra witnessed a steady flow of visitors last evening proved that no one, least of all the city’s glitterati, are averse to a quick laugh. Sarika looked her usual stately self while Chitrashi Rawat,in true Chak De! spirit, appeared in a sporty jacket and capris. Others present included Kanchan Adhikari,Lucky Morani,Nikhil Dwivedi,Mohan Kapoor,Pooja and Anita Kanwar,Munisha Khatwani and Ninad Kamat.

Showstopper Sarika might not make too many public appearances but the few times she does make it well worth the wait.
