The Central Railway will impose a series of night-long traffic and power blocks across the Panvel–Kalamboli and Nilje–Dativali sections between November 21 and December 8 to carry out infrastructure works. The blocks will result in the regulation, diversion, and rescheduling of several long-distance trains on specific nights, starting Friday.

The work includes the removal or rectification of infringements that come close to the railway safety zone with regard to the Panvel–Kalamboli Coaching Complex and the dismantling of the Sheel Phata Road Overbridge for the dedicated Freight Corridor project, the Central Railway said in a statement on Thursday.

The block between Panvel and Kalamboli has been enforced from November 20 midnight to December 2. Railway officers said the work linked to the Panvel–Kalamboli Coaching Complex requires the temporary withdrawal of traffic on multiple lines, including up and down main lines, loop lines, and engine reversal lines.

While train services will remain unaffected on the intervening night of November 21 and 22, a series of changes will be enforced from November 22.

Train No. 12134 Mangaluru–CSMT Superfast Express will be impacted the most, with regulation either at Somatane or Apta on several nights, ranging from 20 to 30 minutes. Multiple south-bound trains, such as the Thiruvananthapuram–Hazrat Nizamuddin Superfast Express, Ernakulam–Pune Superfast Express and Thiruvananthapuram–LTT Superfast Express, will be regulated at Somatane for durations of up to one hour and fifteen minutes on their respective dates.

The LTT–Madgaon Express (Train No 11099) will be rescheduled to depart at 1.45 am on November 28, 29, and 30, while the LTT–Karmali Express (Train No. 22115) will be rescheduled on November 27. On November 23/24 and again on December 1, the Daund–Gwalior Superfast Express (Train No. 22193) will be diverted via Karjat–Kalyan–Vasai Road and will halt at Kalyan instead of Panvel.

A second set of night blocks will be carried out between Nilje and Dativali on November 25/26, November 30/December 1, December 2/3 and December 7/8, between 1.10 am and 4.10 am. These are required for dismantling the existing Road Over Bridge at Sheel Phata as part of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation’s works. On all four nights, Train No 12134 Mangaluru–CSMT Superfast Express will be regulated at Kalamboli for 50 minutes, while Train No. 22193 Daund–Gwalior Superfast Express will be diverted via Karjat–Kalyan–Vasai Road on December 1 and 8.
