Central Bank enter Super Six

Central Bank of India maintained their unbeaten streak as they were held to a goalless draw by a determined Dena Bank in a concluding Group-C Super Division encounter of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2012-13,at the St. Xavier’s ground,Parel on Monday.

Despite the hot,humid conditions,both Central Bank and Dena Bank played a good attacking game and managed to create several opening at either end. But the strikers of both sides failed to convert the opportunities into goals.

Central Bank topped the group with 23 points from seven wins and two draws,while Dena Bank also with the same number of points had to settle for second place on account of an inferior goal-difference. Later in the evening G M Franco East Indians scored a facile 7-1 win against Mumbai United. Clint Fernandes and Manish Koli struck two goals each,while Michael Idelewe,Clyde Noronha and Kamlesh Nadar netted one each. Nico Gonsalves scored the lone goal for the losers.

Results: Super Div: Central Bank of India 0 drew with Dena Bank 0; G.M. Franco East Indians 7 (Clint Fernandes 2,Manish Koli 2,Michael Idelewe,Clyde Noronha,Kamlesh Nadar) beat Mumbai United 1 (Nico Gonsalves).
