Less than a week after a senior citizen was killed and two police constables injured after a speeding car rammed into them, two more constables were injured on Monday when a speeding Honda City knocked them down on the J J Flyover on Monday. The car driver sped away from the spot but was nabbed by the police shortly after the incident. Police identified the accused as Rashid Khan (43). The incident took place around noon, when Khan was on the south-bound stretch of the flyover.

“The two constables are attached to the DB Marg police station. They were on a motorcycle and Khan, who was trying to overtake them, rammed into them. However, instead of helping them,he fled,” said an officer from Pydhonie police station.

The two constables,Nagesh Shambu and Vijay Chavan, were taken to hospital by witnesses. While Chavan suffered minor injuries,Shambu is reportedly critical. He has been admitted to Bombay Hospital with fractures behind his ears.

Khan was caught by a team of officers from the Azad Maidan police station who traced the car (MH 01 AE 981) to its owner and later questioned him. Khan was handed over to the Pydhonie police and a case has been registered against him. Khan has been booked for rash and negligent driving and will be produced before a court on Tuesday.
