Theatre patrons and professionals will soon have a splendid setting to lounge and dissect the performances at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA). However, the new cafe at NCPA isnt only for art lovers. With a wide range of fresh nibbles, snacks and meals,Farrokh Khambatas latest offering,in association with NCPA,promises to be a culinary delight for foodies too.
The al-fresco cafe a long, rectangular open-air space with three live counters has green grass and potted plants for décor. The menu will feature dishes that are reasonably priced compared to Khambatas Amadeus, which is also located on the NCPA premises. The main draw will be Asian and American food such as kebabs, dimsums and laksa,in addition to bagels, sandwiches and hot dogs.
I remember when there were a lot more cafes such as the ones in the Opera House and in art galleries. One could sit down and discuss the performances or the artworks for hours there, said Khushroo Suntook, chairman of the NCPA. We hope visitors will use Cafe at NCPA as a place to sit down and tear us to bits or praise our good efforts after a performance.
