The Bandra police arrested a builder on Tuesday for allegedly cheating and forging papers of a family that owned nine properties in a building. According to the complaint, on checking with the registrar’s office, the family found that only one property had been officially listed against their name. The police officers said the builder has been identified as Arun
Soni (44). He will be presented before the court on Wednesday.
Assistant police inspector Asha Korke of Bandra police station said, “The builder was not paying rent to the family.
Zhaveri alleged that after waiting for months he sent a notice to the builder to hand over his nine properties. The builder sent a reply to the complainant that he owned only one property. The victim then filed an RTI with the Bandra registrar office to find the plan submitted by the builder and also details about their tenants”.
The police officer further said that Zhaveri found that two papers were missing from the file at the registrar’s office, and documents showed that he only owned one property. He then approached the police station.
The police officers investigating the case said they had found that the papers had been forged. “Based on our investigation, we have zeroed in on an employee at the registrar’s office, who is involved in helping forge documents and their misplacement. We will soon arrest the accused,” said Korke.
The Bandra police filed a case against the builder for cheating and forgery and arrested him.
