Mumbai university’s goof-up saga continues, this time with a set of errors in hall-tickets. The university erroneously mentioned wrong duration of exam time in the hall-ticket issued to TYBCom students. The exams are scheduled to begin on November 5, however, officials claimed the situation was under control.
From this academic session, the exam pattern has changed from 60:40 to 72:25 (75 marks for theory and 25 for internal tests and attendance). However, the university administration forgot to increase the duration of the exam in the hall ticket. The duration of the exam that was supposed to be from 10:30 am to 1 pm was mentioned as 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
“On several occasions, exam centres go by the time mentioned on the hall-ticket. Some colleges got the mistake rectified from the university before printing and distributing the hall tickets, however, our college is still confused. Around 120 students of TYBCom semester five are facing this issue. We plan to meet the examination controller on Thursday,” said A Prasanna, a student.
Sagar Tawde, another student, said, “Hall-ticket goof-ups are scary as we have seen them occurring every year for the past three-four years now. Last year too, there were mistakes in the hall-tickets which led to confusion during examinations.”
Madhu Nair, Dean of Commerce faculty, said, “Yes, there were errors in the hall-tickets regarding the duration of exam time that was mentioned. The duration for the 60-mark paper was two hours, however, now that the theory paper will be of 75 marks, the duration of paper too has been increased to two and half hours. Colleges approached me, and I directed them to the examination department. I was informed that the hall-tickets were rectified.”
An official from the examination department, who did not wish to be named, said, “Colleges had approached us after they found out about the error and the same was rectified within an hour. The situation is under control. In case there are students who received hall tickets with errors, they can approach us through their respective colleges. We have also uploaded a circular on the university website, asking colleges to inform us if they have hall-tickets with mistakes and we will rectify it immediately.”
