Bar girl stabbed after she snubs proposal,3 held

After that,the two men repeatedly stabbed her in the abdomen causing grievous injuries,and threw her in the nearby bushes after they assumed her dead. Later,a passerby saw her body and informed the authorities who rushed her to the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital.

“Initially,we had no clues about the motive or the accused as Preeti was not in a condition to talk. Once we found that she worked in a bar,we started enquiring with the rickshaw drivers nearby as rickshaws are the only means of transport for the bar staff. We came to know that Yadav,who had been plying his rickshaw in that area since the past few days,had been missing. This reinforced our suspicion and we began to trace him,” said Hargude.

The police arrested two men,Shahnawaz Sayyed and Amarjeet Tiwari,on September 6 after quizzing them. “They confessed to having stabbed Preeti after Yadav promised to pay them Rs 4,000 each. Then,we sent teams to Yadav’s native place at Allahabad in UP and also kept a watch at his Dahisar residence. Yadav was finally arrested on Tuesday from Allahabad and brought to Mumbai,” said Hargude.

According to police,Yadav used to visit the bar frequently around two years ago in Malad,where he had seen the girl and was enamoured by her. After spending money on her,when Yadav expressed his feelings for her,she allegedly humiliated him in public and also had him beaten up by the bar staff for pestering her. Though Yadav went away after the incident,he decided to avenge the humiliation. However,he could not do anything then as he did not know where she lived.

“A few weeks ago,when Yadav was dropping someone at Kancha bar,he saw Preeti and decided to take revenge. After changing his appearance by cutting hair and shaving beard,he picked and dropped her a few times from her workplace and house. On September 2,he instructed his two associates to assault her,” said Hargude.

The trio have been booked for attempt to murder and remanded to police custody.
