The MMRDA did not respond to a suggestion on combining the Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd and Colaba-Bandra-Seepz lines into one Charkop-Bandra-Cuffe Parade underground corridor and taking up Dharavi-Seepz and Bandra Kurla Complex-Mankhurd as underground extensions.
The suggestion was put forth by Nitin Killawala, director at Group Seven Architects and Planners, and was based on a recommendation by E Sreedharan, the then managing director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation,in 2009.
We had written to the MMRDA about this in January, but they havent responded or discussed it with us, Killawala said.
Another suggestion called for dropping the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro altogether and promoting the bus rapid transport system concept to save a lot of expenditure and inconvenience.
