Atlanta hand Prodigy nine-goal hammering

There was no stopping Atlanta FC as they romped to a convincing 9-1 win against FC Prodigy in a Division-III match of the Mumbai District Football Association’s (MDFA) League at the St Xavier’s ground,Parel on Monday. There was nothing too prodigious on offer from the hapless victims of the Atlanta strike-force’s assault,as they buckled under the intense pressure and could only stare grudgingly as the ball continued to fly into the back of their citadel. The Atlanta outfit,meanwhile,were in completely control on both sides of the field and both halves of the contest,and were cohesive and destructive in defense and attack respectively. Their attackers run rhapshod over the rival territory and found the target almost nonchalantly after the first few flew in.

Allen Contractor,Pravin Rao and Ivor Fernandes,all scored two apiece and were mainly responsible for their team’s canter. Arnold Pinto,Jervis Fernandes and Godfrey D’Souza also joined in the fun and frolic to add a goal each as the score-line continued to swell in Atlanta’s favour. Satyajit Sinari provided some solace,though hardly significant,for Prodigy by scoring a consolation goal for his team.

Later in the evening,Jai Ambee SC managed to pull off a narrow 1-0 win over Xavier Boys’ with Edelbert Martis netting the lone goal of the match. Young Guns from Vikhroli also dished out a hammering to under-pressure Janseva Janjagruti in their fixture at Parel,smashing their opponents 5-1.
