Mumbai: The Bombay High court was on Tuesday informed by the Bhandup police that a case of rioting was registered against Sunil Raut,brother of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut. The statement was taken on record by a division bench of Justices Ajay Khanvilkar and Pramod Kode. The court observed that the court was giving a last chance to the authorities to take action in pursuance to the FIR. Raut,along with others,has allegedly objected to the reconstruction of a dilapidated building Bhandup and allegedly damaged a portion of the structure,the petitioner said. The court deferred the matter to October 25.

Robbers strike at chawl in Kakaji Nagar

MUMBAI: Unidentified assailants broke into a room of chawl at Kakaji Nagar,Goregaon (west),and decamped with gold jewellery worth Rs 3.5 lakh and Rs 20,000 in cash. Senior inspector Suresh Paithankar of Goregaon police station said,“The complainant,Rukmini Pawar (60),stays with husband and granddaughter Vijaya at the Kakaji Nagar chawl. They live in one room,keep valuables in another room. On Tuesday morning,Vijaya that the lock of the door was broken. Later,they realised that their valuables have been looted. We registered a case of burglary. The investigation is on.”

Two teens die in road mishap

Mumbai: Two teenagers from Jogeshwari died after a taxi allegedly hit their bike on Monday night, police said. While the rider,Sufiyan Ansari (18),was thrown off the bridge and died,pillion rider Sohail Shaikh (18) succumbed to his injuries later in the night. Police Sub Inspector Janardhan Sonawane said,“The two friends were on their way to attend a friend’s wedding when a speeding taxi rammed into the bike from behind.” A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against taxi driver.

Best agrees to solve workers’ issues: MNS

Mumbai: A day after the BEST undertaking’s daily wage workers did not report to work,MNS claimed the credit of sorting out the issue. “BEST general manager has assured that the problem would be sorted out,” said Sanjay More,member of Maharashtra Navnirman BEST Karmachari Sena. On Monday,around 10 to 15 per cent of the BEST buses services were hit after the daily wage workers did not report to work.
