Oriental Youth Social Group managed to put up a good fight and steal a narrow 1-0 win against Los Galacticos in a close Division-III match of the Mumbai District Football Associations (MDFA) League 2011-12,at the St Xaviers ground,Parel,on Monday.
In an evenly contested encounter there was not much to separate the two teams,before Sohail Ansari found the back of the net to help Oriental snatch a win and all the three points. In contrast,Virar FC had things much their own way as they handed FC Peninsula a crushing 5-0 defeat in another clash of the same division. Prathamesh Kadam 2,Chirag Solanki,Himanshu Jogale and M Kumar got the goals for Virar. Meanwhile,Chedda Nagar Prodigies also romped to a comfortable 4-0 victory over BARC. Strikers Nitesh Sarmalkar and Arijit Deb,both played a key role in the win woth double strikes each.

Oriental Youth SG 1 (Sohail Ansari) beat Los Galacticos 0. White Village 0 drew with Labbaik FC 0. Mubarak Hunters 1 (Fahim Khan) drew with Sacred Heart United 1 (Siddesh Ghadge).
Shaurya outplays Vedant
Sharuya Pednekar was full of fire and fury as he outplayed second seeded Vedant Shah to enter the semifinals of the sub-junior boys singles of the the Matunga Gymkhana-All Mumbai ranking table tennis tournament hosted by Matunga Gymkhana on Monday.

India mens No. 2 Siddharth Suchde and womens top seed Saumya Karki will lead the field in the 36th Bombay Gymkhana-HSBC Maharashtra State Open Squash Championship,as squash action returns to the Bombay Gymkhana courts from October 7 to 11,2011. The 36th Bombay Gymkhana-HSBC Maharashtra State Open Squash Championship is sponsored by HSBC and supported by Vodafone,Westsport & Bisleri,and the total prize money this year will be Rs. 6 lakh.
HSBC has had a very old relationship with this tournament and,along with the Bombay Gymkhana,will play host to the ever growing squash fraternity.
Challenging top seed Suchde in the Mens Open will be second seed Mahesh Mangaonkar of Mumbai,Gaurav Nandrajog of Delhi and Vikas Jangra of Navy.
