Mumbai airport introduces fully automated digital payment system at its multi-level car parking area
With parking facilities available for around 5,000 vehicles at terminals 1 and 2, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai records an average daily movement of nearly 30,000 vehicles.

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has introduced a fully automated digital payment system at its Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP), reducing waiting time and providing a hassle-free parking experience.
Passengers can pay for parking using mobile wallets, debit and credit cards, UPI, or other digital platforms. All customer lanes at the MLCP are equipped with FASTag counters, enabling faster entry and exit. FASTag users benefit from the automated system that removes the need for manual receipts or cash payments.
With parking facilities available for around 5,000 vehicles at terminals 1 and 2, CSMIA records an average daily movement of nearly 30,000 vehicles. Parking charges vary based on vehicle type and service, with four-wheeler fees ranging from Rs 150 to Rs 1,000 and two-wheeler charges between Rs 250 and Rs 1,000. Pricing also differs for private and commercial vehicles.
Currently, 66 per cent of MLCP users at the airport prefer FASTag for payments, while 10-15 per cent use UPI, credit, or debit cards. About 5 per cent of users opt to pre-book parking slots. As 85 per cent of passengers now use cashless transactions, CSMIA aims to eliminate cash payments by partnering with stakeholders and promoting automated digital options. Moreover, passengers who choose to pay in cash must do so at designated central payment stations.
A CSMIA spokesperson said, “Mumbai Airport continues to set new benchmarks in smart airport solutions, enhancing efficiency, transparency, and sustainability through digital innovation. The shift to a digital payment system at the MLCP reflects our commitment to providing a modern, efficient parking experience.”
