Adipurush has sparked controversy due to certain dialogues that didn’t go down well with the audience.(File) The Mumbai police have arrested 18 members of the Karni Sena for allegedly illegally gathering outside the T-Series office in Andheri (West) and shouting slogans against Om Raut, the director of the film Adipurush, which sparked a controversy over some dialogues.
On Monday evening, members of the Karni Sena gathered outside the T-Series office, opposite Citi Mall in Andheri (West), and shouted slogans, demanding the presence of Om Raut. A member of the Karni Sena, Shivdevsingh Tomar, allegedly prayed black paint on the T-series logo at the gate, states the FIR.
“The accused Karni Sena members were protesting the film Adipurush and were shouting slogans against the film’s director, Om Raut. We immediately arrested the accused for illegal gathering and shouting slogans,” said Jaywant Shinde, senior inspector of Amboli police station.
All the accused members of the Karni Sena are from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, Gwalior, Sinhor, and Jharkhand, police said.
The accused have been booked under sections 143, 145, 149, 151, and 153 of the Indian Penal Code, 37 (3), 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, and section 3 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act.
Later, the accused were released on bail by police on a bond of Rs 15,000 each.
Indalsingh Rana, head of Madhya Pradesh region of Kshatriya Karni Sena, said, “We protested the objectionable content of film Adipurush, protested against Om Raut and also blackened the name board of T-series company. We protested against the objectionable attire and dialogues of Seeta Mata’s character. The filmmakers claim they have changed the dialogues, but it doesn’t resolve the issue. We demand complete ban on the movie.”
