Accused escapes from cops custody

An accused wanted in a cheating case escaped from police custody while he was being taken to his house as part of police investigations.

An accused wanted in a cheating case escaped from police custody while he was being taken to his house as part of police investigations. The accused,J Naidu,was arrested by the Bangur Nagar police on Friday for allegedly cheating a person.

An officer from the Bangur Nagar police station said Naidu escaped from police custody while he was being taken to his house in Goregaon.

Naidu resides in Goregaon and was being taken there as part of our investigation. A case under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code was lodged against him. We had to recover a few goods from his house. While we were taking him there,he escaped from our custody, said an officer from the Bangur Nagar police station.

Naidu was reportedly handcuffed when he escaped. We will nab him soon. A manhunt has been lodged to catch him, the officer added.
