A 12-year-old boy from Goregaon West succumbed to dengue late on Tuesday night. Anup Balkrishna Karwar is the localitys second fatality due to the disease. This is the fifth dengue death in the city this year.
A 47-year-old woman from the area had died of dengue Tuesday morning.
A resident of Motilal Nagar,Anup was admitted at Kapadia hospital,Goregaon West,Tuesday afternoon. After his condition got critical,the hospital suggested that we admit him in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital. He,however,passed away the same night, his neighbour Ravindra Gamgorde said.
A student of the local BMC school,Anup suffered from fever,vomiting and headache for two days before his parents took him to a doctor on Sunday.
When his condition failed to improve,they approached another doctor on Monday.
Residents of Goregaon West now allege that under-construction buildings have led to stagnation of water which has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
