10-Hour ‘Rail Roko’ at Badlapur, 42 trains cancelled
Several suburban local trains, as well as express and mail services, were cancelled.

A 10-hour rail roko protest at Badlapur railway station brought train services to a standstill on Tuesday. The operations towards Mumbai CSMT and in the down direction towards Karjat and Khopoli were severely impacted.
As a result, several suburban local trains, as well as express and mail services, were cancelled.
According to Central Railway, a total of 42 local trains in both directions partially remain cancelled between Ambernath and Karjat Kopoli section and 24 long-distance mail and express trains were diverted via the Karjat-Panvel-Thane route.
“42 local trains were cancelled partially between Ambernath and Kopoli, Karjat section on Central Railway. The numbers might increase further,” said Central Railway Chief PRO Dr Swapnil Nila.
“We coordinated with various state transportation agencies to provide approximately 100 buses to accommodate passengers traveling from Kalyan to Karjat. Around 55 buses have already been deployed for passenger convenience,” she added.
The protest was triggered by outrage over the alleged sexual assault of two four-year-old girls in a school restroom in Badlapur. Although the suspect had been arrested, the protest was staged due to delays by the police in filing an FIR.
