AS an art director,I use colour to depict moods,to showcase a particular region or to just show the difference between good or bad. In all my films, such as Devdas and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, colour has also been one of the characters. While red is my favourite colour,I would like to use green to transform urban life. Since nature is fading away,I would like to imbibe it by adding green to our urban structures.

WHERE food is concerned,I believe flavour has a lot to do with sight. We eat with our eyes first. Hence, colour can be a great appetite stimulator. For instance, the colour red is said to increase ones appetite and many restaurants use it on their walls. Personally,I believe that macaroons should be made in as many different hues as possible. They make this delicious snack even more flavourful. I would like to make macaroons in blue. It is a colour that is hardly used in food. I might come up with yellow and blue tie-and-dye patterned macaroons.

BEING in Delhi,Id like to transform the Qutub Minar using gold and yellow. As an artist, these are the colours I use most often in my work. The Qutub Minar has abstract geometry so I think that these colours would reflect even better and make a strong impact. Its an iconic monument in Delhi and is a huge crowd-puller. Since gold and yellow are friendly and warm colours, they would draw even more visitors to the Qutub Minar.

IF I had to reinterpret one iconic element from Mumbai with a new colour,I would choose to work towards a new avatar for the citys BEST buses. They are red but Id like to paint them green. Not only will it be bright and eye-catching but it will give our public transport a new spin and contemporise it. Also since green symbolises all things environment-friendly,
it can effectively spread this message.
