Wrong paperwork likely to delay development works

Wrong paper work by the staff of Municipal Corporation’s building and roadways wing will lead to a delay in development works worth Rs 4 crore, which were allotted to builders in February through e-tendering.

Wrong paper work by the staff of Municipal Corporation’s building and roadways (BR) wing will lead to a delay in development works worth Rs 4 crore, which were allotted to builders in February through e-tendering.

According to sources, the Finance and Contract Committee (FCC) had recently approved the works and were all set to issue work orders, but it turns out that the BR employees made mistakes in filling out the paperwork, due to which the entire comparative statements will have to be re-done. The matter will go to the FCC committee and later, work orders will be issued once again.

Contractors complained that the FCC cleared the tenders of February only last month and that this hitch will delay development work once again.

Sources said that the tenders of majority of road metalling works were announced in February keeping in mind the upcoming Assembly elections. But now the entire process may take more than a month, with the development works being delayed till September end — due to monsoon.

When contacted by Newsline, the Zonal Commissioner and head of BR,M S Jaggi, expressed surprise over such anomalies.

“If there is any such mistake,it should be brought to my notice and the matter will be rectified soon,” he said.
