Whenever city-based entrepreneur Ranjodh Singh sets out on a tour to explore new business avenues in the world,he knows there are two assignments on hand: inking new deals for business expansion and satiating the shutterbug in him.
After jotting down the itinerary of people and places to be visited, the prospective business deals to be inked and packing his bags, what really excites Ranjodh is to pull out his Nikon D300 camera and hang it on his shoulders before stepping out.
As part of my job,I have to visit various places across the globe. Since I am so interested in photography,I cannot help telling myself,It is another opportunity in another place, another part of nature in another world beckoning me, he says.
This way the industrialist-cum-photographer keeps himself occupied. After meeting people and striking new deals,Ranjodh wanders off, into the nature, only to find solace for him.
His hobby started with a pat of encouragement he received from the famous artist Sobha Singh. I was in the first year of graduation when I participated in a drawing competition. Sardar Sobha Singh patted me for my work in drawing, and when I told him I was shifting to photography,he told me to continue my passion, he recounts.
Ranjodh has also held seven exhibitions of photography along with TPS Sandhu and has brought out a book Quotable Quotes a creative idea including 365 photographs.
I have been to almost all parts of the world, except Africa, including Singapore,Netherland,America,Australia or East European countries like Romania and Hungary, he beams.
And it is Netherland he has liked the most, not without reasons, though. It is because of its richness in floriculture. Netherland is full of beautiful flowers and I feel attracted to it again and again, he says while talking about his penchant for flowers.
Most of my customers know about my hobby now. So whenever I visit their country, they include photography expeditions in the itinerary themselves, He smiles. In India,my camera has liked Leh and Ladakh and Kerala the most, because of their serenity and tranquility, he adds. Over the weekends Ranjodh undertakes photography expeditions, capturing the calm and quiet life of the rural Punjab. He is next flying off to Switzerland, with his camera of course.
