The Punjab government on Monday extended the date of getting the plots and colonies regularised to October 25.
However,heavy rush was witnessed in MC offices and GLADA office till filing of this report as earlier the last date was October 7.
People in long queues waited for their turn to pay regularisation fee and get NOCs. The MC had announced that till the people who were standing in queues were not issued certificates,their officials would keep on attending to them and offices would not be closed.
We will be attending to people even till late night but those who have arrived will be sent after issuing NOCs, said Kamaljit Kaur,assistant town planner,headquarters MC.
MC Commissioner Rahul Tewari confirmed to Newsline that as per government orders date of regularisation has been extended to October 25.
Sources said as per the latest government orders,plots/colonies established before 1995 had now been exempted from regularisation fee. Orders have arrived and plots/colonies established before 1995 will now be considered regularised without any fee, said the source,adding that a formal announcement in this regard would be made on Tuesday morning.
MC collection crosses Rs 28 cr
As per the data collected from MC headquarters till the filing of this report,the Ludhiana MC collected more than Rs 23 crore since September 27 when the regularisation drive began. Out of these Rs 23 crore,Rs 5.28 crore were collected on Monday.
Rakesh Popli,estate officer,GLADA,said,We have cleared 11,000 applications and collection was around Rs 36 crore till Sunday. Our counting for the day is still on and it will cross more than Rs 10 crore.
